Students at every level, in every field, with every ambition can find what they are looking for among REA's publications.

While most test preparation books present practice tests that bear little resemblance to the actual exams, REA's series presents tests that accurately depict the official exams in both degree of difficulty and types of questions. REA's practice tests are always based upon the most recently administered exams, and include every type of question that can be expected on the actual exams.

REA's publications and educational materials are highly regarded and continually receive an unprecedented amount of praise from professionals, instructors, librarians, parents, and students. Our authors are as diverse as the fields represented in the books we publish. They are well-known in their respective disciplines and serve on the faculties of prestigious high schools, colleges, and universities throughout the United States and Canada.

Inside you will find a concise review of introductory human development, as well as tips and strategies for test-taking. Concentrate on one problem area at a time by reviewing the question and explanation, and by studying our review until you are confident that you completely understand the material.

Listed below are ways to help you become accustomed to the CLEP, some of which may be applied to other standardized tests as well. Read all of the possible answers. Just because you think you have found the correct response, do not automatically assume that it is the best answer. Read through each choice to be sure that you are not making a mistake by jumping to conclusions. Use the process of elimination. Go through each answer to a question and eliminate as many of the answer choices as possible.

By eliminating just two answer choices, you give yourself a better chance of getting the item correct, since there will be only three choices left from which to make your guess.

Paperback Verified download. This was a great book to use to study for the CLEP. I read this book in a week, took thorough notes on it, did all the practice exams in the back of book, then restudied my notes before the exam.

I did all the practice questions on the modern states website and found that very helpful They will also give you a free voucher for the CLEP, and reimburse you for the test center fee so thats a plus if you do all the course work! I was able to pass the CLEP exam with this book and the extra practice questions on modern states.

Also reading site reviews of this book is helpful because people people will let you know about theorists that appeared on the exam that wasn't in the book. There were some on the exam that wasn't in the book at all but it wasn't enough to make you fail.

Two thumbs up! One person found this helpful. I did pretty much memorize the book over the course of 6 weeks, reading it cover to cover at least 12 times. Unlike many exam review books I have used this book really covers exactly what was on the exam in a way that ensured I understood the material so I could effectively think through and answer all the exam questions.

However I must say I was more than a bit skeptical of the great reviews. Especially given that the reviews for the other REA human growth and development books were not so great.

This is a good review and covers all the topics you need to know on the test. I took the clep in December of , and used edition 8 of this book. I scored 72 out of The questions I missed were like other reviewers, you either knew the particular study being referenced or you did not.

Several are simply not covered by the book, but it doesn't really matter if you do know the material that is there, it is more than enough. The book is more than adequate to pass this CLEP with out requiring additional study material. As other reviewers have suggested, it is important to understand the concepts and be able to apply the different theories rather than just memorizing names. If you really learn the material you won't have any problem at all.

I am a fast reader and I finished the test with only 25 minutes to spare which I used to review some questions I was not sure about. You do need to take your time and thoroughly read all the questions and answsers, as a lot of them require you to think a bit.

Another thing I did to study, was I read my notes aloud and recorded them onto my pc, then transfered them to my ipod. That helped tremendously as I could study in the car, or the train. As other reviewers have suggested, know thoroughly, Piaget, Erikson, cognitive development and behavioral theories.

I don't think the download is worth 10 dollars, as the same info, and percentage of question breakdown is covered and listed in chapter one of this book. Best of Luck!! This was my 4th CLEP.

I had a difficult time finding "affordable" study guides to go along with this REA, I bought a couple of college text books cheaply on e-Bay on the subject but didn't use them AT ALL because there was just too much info.

I used the REA strictly to prep for this exam. I studied 2. I took all 3 practice exams twice. I felt I was ready for the exam and scheduled it. I was surprised by the difficulty with the exam, there were a lot of questions that were not covered in the REA test prep.

I passed with a score of 59!A study guide would probably have been more helpful for me, as I like to scour the Internet for additional information on subjects, rather than relying on a book for everything.
